how to burn avi using nero startsmart

how do i burn a avi movie using nero startsmart

HOW THE HELL DO I TRANSFER AVI TO DVD SO IT PLAYS ON MY DVD PLAYER

open nero startsmart. on the left hand side it will have applications. nero express, nero vision express, nero back it up etc. click on nero vision express.
make dvd> dvd-video
then click add video files. add your .avi files.
then go thru the rest.

one thing.
you can download cucusoft avi to vcd off the internet and use that or apollo divx to dvd creator. both great programs.

i use both these programs and i have no clue on what the hell is going on
everytime i open .avi file the program loads for a sec. and just closes completely. both of them. i’ve tried to open .avi files that i’ve already burnt via these programs and it still just closes.
i’ve spoken to heaps of people and all i can seem to get out of anyone is there must be a configuration setting you have to change. please someone. dono what to do. i’ve got so many .avi i need to get onto dvd. please help me out!
