how do i burn a .mkv file to DVD?

ok i’ve tried the first suggestion for converting mkv to avi and then burning but i cant get through step 1. I did what you said, and the program pops an error message when i try to save in avi. It says : The source video stream uses a converssion algorithm wich is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream.

Anyone has a clue? plz help

and when its is done installing it will ask u to go fix the setting and on one of the setting i just clicked on the option to play mkv. file with media player classic. and thats it when i clicked on my movie file it start playing..

okay I 2MKv files and a SFV file nad I’ve followed soe preiou info about converting them into avi. But I’m still having trouble with it can som etake me through it step by step?

Hey just to uinfrom you guys if you want to convert an MKV file to avi. or anthing else I recommend for you guys to use Magic Video Converter it’s great and it really works.

Okay, so I have been reading this thread for a bit, and trying several recommendations. Guys, for the least amount of headache, as someone recommended somewhere in this long thread, download and install the program “Super”. Its free, and can be found at http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
Trust me, its way better that that other program Matrosky. Cause if you go that route, it requires two additional programs(an extracter and merger). Super does everything for you.
Also, I tried WinAvi, but the problem was that it didnt copy the audio.
Super takes some time to convert, but it works
Also, be prepared that this converting will take some considerable time. The only thing I didnt check in Super is whether or not it will copy subtitles as well.

I tried to burn a DVD with a Matroska video and it burnt supposedly successfully, but, when I go watch the burnt video, it is 10-15min shorter. Is it usual? Is it really needed to convert it to an AVI file to burn the video complete?

hi everyone, i also have a number of HD MKV files which are about 6 or 7 gigs and was wondering whether there was anyway to burn them onto a dual layer disk while maintaining the HD resolution? i already have a DL burner and a HD DVD player.

I’m in the same boat as BingoL, I have a HD mkv clip (2 Gigs) that I want to burn to DVD, surprisingly I’m having a tough time running it on my Powerbook even with 1.5G RAM. I downloaded programs like DVD creator and MoKgVm2DVD, and still no luck. I just want to watch my MKV file on my DVD player- Help please?

You can also use “Total Video Converter” which can convert .mkv Files to .avi The quality of the Video is very good with only a small degrade in framerate. you can get the Prog by doing a search on the Warez sites.
