DVD-R that doesnt work on a dvd player

ive got some really good movies ive downloaded and ive copied them to a DVD-R disk but they only work on my pc. when i put the disk into the dvd player it just says incorrect disk.
my dvd player is a FERGUSON FTVD414T its a DVD and VHS combo.
someone please help!!

i use WinAVI to convert all my files and im using Nero Express 6,im burning them as Super Video CD.

try burning a movie to a dvd+.i think that this will solve your prob

Yeah, i agree with the reply above, as some dvd players dont work with dvd-r discs, like mine! Try dvd+r, as its probably just a compatibility issue.
