Can't use dvd shrink to burn dvd files converted from avi files

I need help, I’ve just started to try and burn films which I’ve downloaded. I’ve converted the movie avi files to dvd (video ts) files using winavi, and go to burn them onto a blank dvd using dvd shrink. It starts the encoding then stops at 28% and comes up with the error message of dvd shrink encountered a promblem and cannot continue, out of memory, the parameter is incorrect. please help, i cant seem to make it work, when i copy & burn films from an actuall movie rental disc it all works fine.
