ConvertXtoDvd
convertxtodvd will convert the movie and encode the subs so it can be burnt to a dvdnot a cd.
Thiswill show you how to encode the .srt subs into your .avi movie if you just want to burn the .avi to a cd.
But your dvd player will have to be a divx certified one to watch the movie when its on a cd.
In the future, since all you have is a cd burner, look into downloading KVCD encoded movies, they are designed to be burnt onto a cd and watched in a standard dvd player.
Lots of people like to take the original .avi files and encode them into KVCD’s and upload them.
Or, if you want to be brave and attempt to create your own ksvcd with the subtitles and burn it to a cd, here is a guide
this will allow you to burn the movie to one cd, or two if you want better quality. But I warn you, its a bit “iffy” and doesn’t always give the desired results. Some people think its wonderful and some think its horrible.
I think ffmpegX can help U.
Which is a freeware and it can merge avi videos and .srt files into one files, and then you can burn the merged videos to dvd.
Just follow this guide:

I hope it’s not too late and you didn’t take any of these geniuses advice or go out and buy a dvd burner. All you need to do is download AVIAddXSubs. Make sure your avi and srt are in the same file with the same name, then just drag and drop the avi on to the AVIAddXSubs icon and hit start. In less than two minutes you’ve got a divx file with embedded subs. You can also change the extension to .avi if your player handles that better. Hope that helps.
Thank you, xian. Your method works great and fast. Can watch the .avi file with subtitle display on cheapo dvd players. Allows for multiple language selection/option by pressing the subtitle button on the remote controller.
