Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 Compatible Codecs

Is there anyone out there that really knows the answer to this question?

Taking a DVD and ripping it to be used with Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 has become a REAL challenge. The problem with most codecs (vob to avi) is that they Play ok, but can’t be Edited in PRO 1.5.

Divx and xvid do not work. Same for Panasonic. Other software such as DVD Ripper, #1 DVD Ripper, AOA DVD Ripper, Blade DVD Ripper, IMTOO DVD Ripper, Virtual Dub also don’t work. These can be used for play, but not for editing.

Alparysoft appears to work, but so far only DVDZip incorporates it but their tech support is non-existent. Same for Cinematize 2.0.

The simple answer is to get another dvd player link it thru you r vcr to your capture card. Now download to your hard drive and import it into adobe.

Ditto. I used all the ripping software you mentioned and when I brought it into Pro 1.5, the audio was cut off about 17 minutes into the movie.

As for Sercher’s advice about hooking it up to the VCR, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. I’d just as soon dump Adobe before I went through all that hassle.

Makes me wonder if Adobe constructed Pro 1.5 to screw up ripped videos to chase away piracy. What the pricks didn’t consider is people like me who want to rip a movie to incorporate a piece of it into a class project.

Ditto on that ... having trouble getting an XVID encoded video clip into Adobe Premier 1.5 for a class project. Saw another topic on this site about turning off debugging in the XVID setup - but only works for Premier 6.5. Doesn’t work for 1.5. GRRRR!!!!

I’ve also tried converting the .avi file to MPEG, but having issues with the file being HUGE and audio getting out of sync. Any help out there??!!??

Well, I ended up taking that xvid file and converting it to mpg. Turns out the audio codec was variable bit rate and made the sound out of sync. Once in mpg format Premier likee. Use the instructions below. (And don’t use headac3he for audio encoding ... the program sux!! Use BeSweet instead)

in your xvid options select dvix. (please see the image)

You guys are chasing your tail with all these conversions where your sound is out of sync and the sorts.

Hook up a DVD to your camera, which is hooked up fire wire to the computer, open the capture link and feed it straight in. Easy as that.

The camera takes the analog signal and converts it. The bummer is it happens in real time just as your recorded to tape footage.
