Oook... I downloaded a movie torrent, and there is plenty of video, but no audio.
I know all about installing video codecs, and the 4CC stuff associated with video codecs, but NOTHING about audio codecs and stuff, so I need some help here.
Heres the info from my GSpot v2.21 program (detects if I have the right codecs):
/Video/
4CC: DX50/XVID Name: DivX 5.0
Stat: Codec NOT installed! |||(but the video plays fine)|||
/Audio/
-||Codec||-
Name: ac3 (0x2000) Dolby Labratories, Inc.

And then some bitrate and FS stuff but thats it.
I’m at a loss.
That’s a weird combo of fourcc’s! DX50 is DivX and XVID is Xvid! I guess whoever made the video wanted it to be readable by either codec. And yeah, gspot isn’t always perfect at detecting whether a codec is installed. If you have DivX 5 or 6, Xvid, 3ivx, ffdshow-tryouts you can probably play the video portion just fine.
As for audio you need the AC3 filter: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter
Alternately, you also have the option of playing the video in Media Player Classic. It has its own built-in AC3 decoder built-in (which downsamples to stereo by default). http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ It’s a very clean file. Just unzip (one file) to your desktop and drag video onto it (no install needed).
