transfering audio and video from video camera to cd or dvd

i have a canon es8400V 8mm vid camera and i tried to copy tape contents onto a dvd using a dazzle converter. when i copied it to my computer and edited and created my video, i then put it on a dvd but the video and audio were out of sync with each other. somehow it did not overlay right or something. i used to build these darn computers years and years ago but i am lost over this audio and video problem. how do i or what do i need to fix this problem. please help me with any info you might have it would be greatly appreciated.
