I have been troubleshooting a problem with an AVI file with AC3 audio not playing on a mac. I found that the A52 codec (http://trac.cod3r.com/a52codec/) solved the problem. I hope this will help others.

Hello,

I’ve downloaded several episodes of the old British TV show “Doctor Who” from BTmon.com using Azurez. However, none of the episodes I’ve downloaded play video or audio.

I first thought that I might have the incorrect codec or I needed one — so I downloaded G-spot to test one of the files. G-spot indicates that the file is “Not a valid AVI file." Int he video codec information the 4CC displays n.a. I’ve attempted to render the file and rendering fails. I also downloaded VideoInspector and I can’t find out anything about any of the .avi files I’ve downloaded.

I don’t think the files are fakes as the health of the downloads were excellent and there were plenty of seeders.

I have downloaded FFDSHOW and installed it - and this is going to sound ignorant - but I am not sure what FFDSHOW is suppose to do.

I need some help please....

Have you guys ever thought about simply downloading Divx?

you dont have to install the Player just the codec? this will solve most of your problems smiley

and Divx updates when ever a new patch is released!
you cant loose!

I downloaded a movie using azureus and tried to play it through quicktime and a message popped up saying “additional plugin needed”- movie had perfect sound but no picture! maybe i need a different codec but which one? (also tried playing the movie through Divx player and the same thing happened)

I downloaded a Chinese movie - The Banquet - from ISO Hunt. It’s in a Winamp format, and I had to download WinRAR to open up some files. I’ve downloaded all the suggested things here, and went to all the proper websites... I’m still having no success in being able to actually hear the movie. The picture plays perfectly. The GSpot program didn’t do anything at all. It gave me no solutions or tests whatsoever. My volume is up on both the player and my speakers. None of it is muted. What’s wrong?

Forget my original message... I finally got the sound to work. My problem now lies in the fact that I need subtitles for this movie. The movie does have subtitles included, but the subtitles aren’t showing up. How do I get the subtitles to show up?

very strange, i downloaded a movie/video file via emule(it’s a “avi” file), and none of my players can play it (wmp, realplayer, VLCplayer) and even more weird, when i click on the “properties” and try to see the “Summary” section, there is nothing there but a message “Summary properties are unavailable for the selected sources(s)."

what the hell is going on?

I had to download the MP3 - MPEG Layer III (55)codec for my Windows Media Player 7. Can’t get it at WMPlugins.com, so I copy and pasted this url:

http://www.neda.net.ir/downloads/files/windowsmedia/wmtools.exe

into my browser it started the download process right away, and in a matter of seconds I could play my WAV files again

Download a program called Power ISO. Using the mount option mount it on a drive then Go to my computer and open the drive. That should make the DAA file play. Or save as the .DAA to an ISO htenuse Daemon Tools to mount it. Or save it as a .iso then write it to disk using power iso. it wil no longer be an ISO only the file you put on there.
