I have the exact same problem with MP3-MPEG Layer III (55). I went to http://www.neda.net.ir/downloads/files/windowsmedia/wmtools.exe and downloaded it but still, the problem remains.What do I do? Help me please!

downloaded from kazaa and movies played fine. transferred to another computer and all the sound is there but it won’t play any video. help!

Apologies, I am a bit of a techno-phobe! I have been trying to download a file (single Lost episode) from Ares Ultra and the at the end (4 hours later!!) the sound works but pictures not so when I play either in Windows Media Player or real music.
HELP....!

When i want to play one song with media player i cant because it miising the “MP3 - MPEG Layer III (55)" plz help me!!!!!

For the people who are still unable to hear sound when viewing a movie through Windows Media Player:

wow..im normally good at this but this one took me a while to figure out...got it working though...so i’ll try to be the hero here...

1 - download l3codecx.exe from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPEG_Layer_3_Codec.htm. This should install l3codeca.acm, l3codecp.acm, and l3codecx.acm into your c:\windows\system32 folder.

2 - download l3codecx.ax from here: http://pwp.netcabo.pt/0254531101/l3codecx.ax. Save this file into your c:\windows\system32 folder ( I don’t know why this file was excluded from the executable in the above link but if it was there it would have solved my problem right away! )

3 - Go to Start -> Run and copy and paste this line: regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm. Click OK to message that says the file was registered successfully.

4 - Again go to Start -> Run and copy and paste this line: regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax. Click OK to message that says the file was registered successfully.

Try to run your file.

If that doesn’t work I did some tests based on what was found here: http://www.divxmovies.com/faq/#4.4 - I downloaded the Gspot file, ran my movie against it and identified exactly what codec I was missing.

when i try to run in quicktime i m getting a message “missing video compressor”. File is not playing in vlc,media player,winamp,windvd,real player.
