No sound or picture with AVI

hello, im from the uk, and im new to this whole codec thing. But ive been downloading lost and the last two espisodes i havent got any sound. And it was error downloading codec (windows media player). And then i clicked on zee web help and i was told i needed this codec..MPEG Layer III (55) codec. But i cant find it anywhere on the net. Has anyone else had a similar problem? or can help me?

was stuck with the same problem, took me ages.....and ages......and ages.....try turning down the hardware acceleration in your wmp settings. worked for me

I Still have this problem, i have downloaded and installed various apparent 'fixes' but nothing, still no sound! very frustrating. Can i make Windows media player look on the pc for a codec so it knows its there or does it automatically know its there? HELP!!!

Look in these forums for a link to 'FFDSHOW' download and install it - it worked for me

I had the same problem as you described with the sound and stuff..but instead of installing the code thing (i thougt that that was a bit tricky) try using this program instead.. http://www.videolan.org/
skip windows media player, this is so much easier and better! I haven’t had any problems with this program yet!

I have some movies as .bin and .daa files. Can anyone advise on how to retrive these movies.

I hope somebody can help me with my problem.
I’v downloaded the movie Storm of the century from www.Demonoid.com with Bitlord. But i have no sound when i play the movie with BSplayer.
I don’t know much about those things but can i find those audio files somewhere so i don’t have to throw away this movie?
