no audio in yahoo mess

hi,
i am unable to hear any audio(call or voice chat) nor my frend is able to hear it. only thing that is audiable is coarse humming noise. more over when i go to call set up of yahoo messg, it displays `your microphone has been configured` before i speak somthing.how com? yahoo messenger also says that my audio compression is not compatible with. can anybody tell me what should be the compression rate? i am using yahoo messg8.1 and my system is hp pavilion tx1201 with vista premium.

try re installing it.

I am having the same problem, have the same computer, the HP and i have absolutely no audio in my yahooo messenger. If you find a solution, please post. Thx
