Hi,

I’m trying to play an .avi movie. The movie info in QT says the video codec is DivX 5.0 and audio codec is 'ms'. VLC is able to play the movie fine, and it says the audio codec is a52. I have already installed the requisite divx, xvid and perian codecs. I have also set perian properties to stereo. I’m not sure wats wrong still.

I also have a separate problem with a different video file where QT shows no audio or video, just a green screen. Again, VLC plays fine. This time the video codec is Generic MPEG-4 and audio codec is mp3.

Please help!

Vivek.

A52 usually means AC3 audio. The perian page says it includes an AC3 decoder. Do you have the latest version?

For the other file, what do you mean generic mpeg-4? Doesn’t it give a fourcc in videolan? And what’s the container?

It simply means that your player can decode the video track only, the audio stream cannot be recognized.

There is an all-in-one solution about playing all multimedia on a Mac without installing tons of Codec.
