Here’s my plight, it is a tad long:

I downloaded an avi file of a tv episode which I do every week no problem. Well this week I downloaded the episode and there was no audio. Me being an idiot start looking around online and install the Nimo (sp?) codec pack which just caused a lot of trouble. First it results in the dreaded green sceen crap. Well I uninstalled all of the codecs I had and installed 3ivx which makes the video work perfectly.

Now the only problem is the audio which refuses to work at all. If I try WMP, it tries to download a codec but of course it doesn’t work. I have tried installing the AC3 audio codec but that didn’t work. I then installed the Divx Player and it says that I am missing Audio Tag 85. I got the file and installed it yet the Divx Player still gives me the same message. WMP also doesn’t recognize it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should install the Tag to? Is there a specific audio codec or audio pack that will work for me?

I have tried using Gspot to analyze my vid but it refuses to render the video so I don’t even know what codec I am missing. I have tried the Video Toolbox and it says I need the MPEG Layer 3 codec which I have tried to find and install yet it does nothing. Does anyone have any tips?

to solve this problem you need to go to start>run>type"regsvr32.exel3codeca.acm” then hit enter. this should give you a success message click ok. next go start>run>type"regsvr32.exel3codecx.ax” and hit enter. This will now allow audio to be played

Can somebody tell me where to get the audio codec tag 85 for divx player? I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t find it. I’ve also tried running “regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax” but I get a failed message. HELP!

the file you are looking to download is mp3codec.zip when extracted this gives you the fraunhoffer pro mp3 you can find the site easily by searching for tag 85 audio codec through google.com once installed you still have to register the drivers

For a momth I was using Divx Player for my .AVI files. It was excellent experiance. But because of the Audio Tag:85 error. Not even a single avi file can’t produce audio format.
What is the solution for this error?
Please send me the solution for this error.
Or even suggest me any software that can solve this error.

TAG85 download this codec “http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip”

then extract all the files and run to install it. as soon as you have done that go to start>run> then type

regsvr32.exe l3codecx.acm

click ok. if you get a success message. go to start>run> then type

regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax

click ok. hopefully you will get a success message.

hope it clarifies things.

The following way does work

1. download, extract and install the following http://download.divxmovies.com/mp3codec.zip

2. then go to start, run and paste the following regsvr32.exe l3codecx.ax

3.press enter, now try playing the file.
