Hi,

Does anybody know which codec that I need for “tag 45”?
I tried to play an ".asf” video file, but I got this error msg:

“The audio codec identified by the format tag 45 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help."

Please help!!!!!

Panasonic’s DVD recorders write audio in this format when writing so called SD Video (actually MPEG4, *.asf) on SD cards. I also initially was surprised about that media player and some otehr I tried don’t understand that. But later after readung instruction wink) I found that it is G.726 conforming audio. So serching for G.726 codec was much more successful that for tag 45.

best regards
Konstantin

Does anyone know where I can ger the Tag45 codec for a IPAQ PPC, as my Logictech video camera records onto SD, but I get no sound when I play the video on my IPAQ. I think it needs the tag45 codec same as I have on the desktop PC.

Thanks

Shane

I was successful seeing the video of some asf files made on SD media chip by my Canon XI camera using MMJB (Music Match Juke Box), an excellent media player available for free d/l on the web, but don’t get any sound.

Does anybody know if the sound is a separate file or integrated like AVI files?

Any suggestions on how to get the (assuming there is any) sound?
TIA

I’m having the same problem as DMellor. I have a Canon Optura Xi, am able to view the ASF files but do not hear video. I receive the following error trying trying to pay ASF files created from the Canon camrecorder:

The audio codec identified by the format tag 45 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.

If anybody knows which Codec to buy I will purchase. I have spent 5 hours scanning the web for the apropriate codec but have not be able to find anything. I think it is unfair of manufactures to sell stuff without giving you the necessary drivers to run.

Now I know where to find it annd the price where can I download it for free. I uploaded some video clips from my camcorder then when I try playing them it asks for this. The audio codec identified by the format tag 45 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.
