I had problems with WMP 9 needing a codec 75. I opened it, let it download a codec but it still did nothing and directed me to a site with nothing for me. I did this and it is working fine now. In Internet Eplorer>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Internet Zone...Lower this setting and try to open your file again, this time when it downloads it should tell you something bout the content is unkown or something, but install it. This is why it wont install. Hope this helps yall! smiley

sorry bud, but the best thing you can do with that Mac of yours is junk it. Make sure the garbage man can’t see it when he picks it up tho or he’ll force you to take it back. Even they won’t deal with that kind of worthless trash.

The trick with opening using start, run, mplayer2 worked great. I was able to get the codec. Just had to open WMP9 and then redownload the codec, and it worked!

Hi. I am trying to view movies with my Pocket PC with Windows Media player 9. I am able to view .asf files with no audio. I tried to run on windows media 10 on a windows XP machine, and it told me to get codec 75.

I am assuming that my pocket pc is missing codec 75 in it’s windows media player 9.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get updated? Can I just download the .cab and run it in windows CE?

I run windows CE 2003

I am also unable to view .mpeg files, which seems a tad odd, considering how common mpeg format is. I find windows media a bit lame honestly.

Email me if you know the sure answer. thanks!

Ok, everybody READ THIS!!!

As said above by someone else, if your Internet Explorer security settings are too hig you will not be able to install the codec once it downloads.

So, Open Internet Explorer...

Choose Tools > Internet Options > Security and change it to LOW. then go into media player (doesn’t matter which version) and play the file. The codec will download again, but this time it will actually ask you if you want to install it. Choose YES. Simple.

Once you’re done change your Internet Explorer security setings back to where they were before.

XP had the same issue. Temporarily reduced all security senting to their lowest settings.

OMG! I had soooo much trouble with this “codec 75” thing myself! I uninstalled my windows media player completely, I wiped it out of my computer program files and everything. I then installed windows media player 7, then I got the media player update. Once I did that, I downloaded and installed windows media player 9....it now works perfectly! What a pain this was! hahaha!

For Service pack 2, go to

Tools > Internet Options > Security

Choose Internet & Custom Level

Move all ActiveX Controls to Prompt or Enable. Run your movie again and It’ll prompt you for download. Change your settings back after if you wish.

Good Luck.

Hello Movie Codec folks .. the patch linked to at Keystonelearning is my code. It is a glorified VB program that duplicates right clicking on the correct .inf file and choosing “Install” ..... thats ALL that it does..no magic...just a 15 line program to help users who cant figure out .inf files
*** Also I belive the codec server goes down from time to time, thats why I made this manual version....also I believe this codec shipped with Win9x and ME and was discontinued with 2K and XP ...... hope that helps someone understand HOW these nightmares begin sometimes. Hope that helps DaveMon
