I have simmilar prob, its about Taxi Driver divx movie, in media player 10 it starts to load a movie, bt just b4 d movie starts 2 play, mediaplayer begin 2 download some audio codec. When it finishes it says that im missing an audio codec and d movie plays without a sound. I tried everything, virtualdub, mv2player... and nothing. when i run it thru AVI info prog it says “wave 353 - windows media audio format”
other movies run without a problems and im using divx and xvid codecs

When Video files start to download something on their own it is a sign of either of a carrying ripper basically he wants you to get codec automatically; or an adventurous hacker. chance of latter is much higher. much much higher. so my advice - get rid of the file. run ad-aware or other spaware cleaner program, run antivirus. chance is you got yourself a present, lucky if did not.
stay safe, good practice would be to check files for viruses before you run them.

if you were lucky and did not catch anything with this file, try running GSpot on it, it will give you idea what is missing.

A great big and hearty “THANK YOU” to “flyer070”.
A much needed codec has greatly opened up my viewing enjoyment.
It is very nice of you to give assistance to those in need. You are very gracious.
Thank You Very Much
Ed

well i have the same problem i guess. i try to play my movie and i have no sound, due to the following error:

The audio codec identified by the format tag 2000 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.

so i googled this place, downloaded the codec, installed it, and yet i haven’t made any progress. any suggestions would be appreciated.
