HOW DO I DOWN LOAD ADPCM

HOW DO I DOWN LOAD ADPCM
where do i get the codec Microsoft ADPCM Format (2)i need it for my vista computer it wont play my videos please help
I am having the same problem but don’t understand how to fix it. Can someone email me step by step on how to deal with this? Thanks!
I have Vista also. I can’t play videos that I record with my aiptek recorder. Please help.
I renamed my test video and it worked. I just have to remember to rename it to .ASX when I upload. Thanks! I should have read it better.
Anybody have a fix for vista??
you need to rename the file with .ASX for it to work.
Windows Photo Gallery
Windows Movie Maker
Thanks a lot guys-
It really helps to rename the files to *.asx
And greetings to all AIPTEK owners.... *g*
The rename *.asf to *.asx did the trick on my Vista laptop.
But, I swear I have played *.asf’s right off the media card of my Aiptek. I’m guessing the problem started after auto updates (Vista) and / or updating my iTunes to the latest (you finally cave in after so many bugs).
Thanks for the help.
I dowloaded from web a new (WinLite edition) system Windows Speed XP Pro 2008 created by Saper. I had problem with that ADPCM Codec. I tryied to find this codes as in your solution Marco, but in my mmdrv.dll the driver ADPCM wasn’t exist... So I copied mmdrv.dll from old system (WinXP SP2 my own WinLite edition - I had image copy of old system on hard drive, i used tool to explore that image and simply copied the files I was needed) and when system asked me for the file i showed him the new file. I did that for bouth (Microsoft ADPCM Audio Codec and IMA ADPCM Audio Codec) and now sounds works fine for me. Thanks for this solution. Marco You’re a good guy. Good job!
By the way... If someone is missing those files mail me. I can send them to You.

I, too, have the aiptek video recorder and Vista with SP1 installed. Renaming the files from .asp to .asx worked beautifully. Thank you for the suggestion.

No promises that it will work, but it has for me.![]()
I only know this works for XP Pro as this is the version that I had the problems on.
Please post and let me know how you get on. If successful then I will post this solution around a bit since I spent almost a week tearing my hair out and trying to find a solution to it. It seems a lot of people have this problem and no-one seems to have a 'good' solution. Also, I think the problem may have arisen from an incompatibility issue between VirtualDub and TMPGEnc - are you running these programs too by any chance. Good luck and a look forward to your reply.
Choose Start > Control Panel > Add hardware. Click ‘Next’.
Choose 'Yes, I have already connected the hardware', then click ‘Next’.
Choose 'Add a new hardware device' (at the bottom of the list) and click ‘Next’.
Choose 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)', and click ‘Next’.
Select 'Sound, video and game controllers' and click ‘Next’.
Select '(Standard system devices)' and click 'Have Disk'.
Click 'Browse' when you get the 'Install From Disk' dialog box and open the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
In here you will find the mmdriver.inf file. Select it and click ‘Open’.
Click 'OK' in the 'Install From Disk' dialog box.
If you see a warning about logo compatibility, just click 'Continue Anyway'.
Now you should see a list of audio codec’s. Amongst it you should find Microsoft ADPCM Audio Codec and IMA ADPCM Audio Codec (the two that I was missing) and many others. You can install what you require from here.
You need to install them one by one so select each in turn and click ‘Next’. This should re-install the codec (for the IMA ADPCM you will need your Windows XP CD, and for both you will need to restart your computer before the codec works). Repeat the procedure for each codec for which you need support
If you are asked for a .dll file with the IMA codec, use the one in the system32 folder.
Good Luck!!!

it works for me too: win xp prf sp2
VMAN has the simple and correct answe.
Rename .ASF file to .ASX
how do you rename the file?
on vista, renaming .asf to .asx worked. thanx.
this worked for me, too!
perfect instructions, thank you, I could not have figured it out on my own...
rename the file extension worked perfectly for me. Cheers Guys
The AVI file my Aiptek DV cam skips during playback. It gets chappy while the audio is continuous. Is there any codec I need for my PC? I run an XP home with the CCCP codec pack
Good news for people with Vista! All you have to do to get around that codec is change the format! I used Format Factory, it’s really good and to free to download from download.com
All you have to do is open the file into the format converter and convert it to a .wmv and it plays on windows media player.
Hope it works for you too.. =]
