I have the exact same problem, YOU WANT THE ANSWER?

Ditch windows media player, it doesnt like Vista.

USE QUICK TIME PLAYER, WORKS EVERY TIME.

i had same problem with mu cyber shot and i found an avi converter on the sony site.
after i installed it i converted the fles over and they play with sound no problem reply
