The filters for MPC don’t work very well. Use VLC to play FLV (Flash Video) files, as it’ll render all of them. www.videolan.org
I had the exact same problem with MPC. VLC works.

if you have windows vista and are downloading video from a camera to your comp the told me that the codec is not available yet to download. They said give the 7 to 10 business days and now has been 14 business days. GRRRR. Anyways, i was told that windows vista isn’t compatible with most cameras right now so thats where the biggest problem lays. Try contacting your camera maker, and see if they have available to download yet, or try vista and tell them this bites!

I had nearly the same problem as many of you (heard the sound but saw no video.
Actually I don’t have the exact error info anymore, but I can give you the link that solved my problem:
